OUr Mission

Microgrid Institute is a collaborative organization that addresses key factors affecting microgrids and distributed energy assets around the world. Our efforts focus on market development and analysis, regulatory and financial models, and project feasibility and structuring. 

What We Do:
  • Initiate and manage collaborative work to address issues affecting microgrids, distributed generation, and local energy management.
  • Provide analysis and advisory services supporting project development, finance, and operation.
  • Evaluate market structures and regulatory policies, provide guidance on models, best practices, and roadmaps.
  • Study and develop microgrid service contracting arrangements, risk-management approaches, and financing structures.
  • Examine microgrid technology, interconnection, integration, interoperability, and optimization in the utility grid.
  • Research markets and support microgrid outreach, education, and and market development.

Strategy:
We use a multidisciplinary approach. By working with acknowledged authorities and subject-matter experts, we provide thorough and objective study and analysis. Our key goals focus on supporting market development; addressing key issues that affect microgrids and community energy projects; and contributing knowledge and insight to policy and development processes.
